- (1785-1870)military figure, diplomatBorn in Paris, Auguste, count de Flahaut de la Billarderie, the natural son of charles-maurice de talleyrand and the countess de Flahaut, was a staff officer to Napoléon Bonaparte. He had, from his liaison with Queen hortense of Holland, a son who became the duke de morny. Living in England from 1815 to 1827 (where he married the daughter of Lord Keith), he regained his rank of division commander under King louis-philippe, who made him a peer of France (1830), minister plenipotentiary to Prussia (1836), then ambassador to Great Britain (1842-48). A senator in 1853, Flahaut de la Billarderie was made grand chancellor of the legion of honor in 1855.
